About Aloe ‘Blue Elf’ (Blue Elf Aloe)

This heat loving evergreen succulent is called Aloe ‘Blue Elf’.  Its blue- grey leaves grow in an upright form with small spikes that line their curved borders and tips that turn reddish-brown during periods of extreme weather. Its leaves can also double for medicinal use offering soothing sensation to sunburns, cuts and other skin irritations. As a late season bloomer, tubular, light-orange flowers emerge atop long spikes from early winter through early spring. Growing quickly, this succulent reaches an average mature landscape size of 1-2′ tall by 1-2′ wide. Winter hardy to temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit and drought tolerant once established.

Plant Blue Elf Aloe in fast draining soils such as sandy or rocky soils. This aloe plant is evergreen and requires full sun to partial shade exposure. Drought tolerant once established, water regularly after planting to help it adapt well to its new location then reduce frequency waiting until the soil is completely dry before watering.
