This herbaceous perennial is called Monarda didyma ‘Pocahontas Purple Rose’. Its dark green foliage grows in a mounded form and is accompanied by dense blooms during the summer months. The flowers have thin crepe-like petals arranged like a starburst with bright green centers. Growing at a moderate rate and spreading quickly, this variety reaches an average mature landscape size of 14″ tall by 16″ wide. Commonly known as Pocahontas Purple Rose Bee Balm, this shrub is known to attract local pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
