About Myrtus communis ‘Compacta’ (Dwarf Myrtle)

This upright evergreen shrub is called Myrtus communis ‘Compacta’. Commonly known as Dwarf Myrtle, this shrub welcomes delicate white blooms during the spring season that are mildly scented. Its blooms are accompanied by ovate green leaves that grow upright that when crushed offer a sweet aroma. Compact in size, this variety reaches a mature landscape size of 3′ tall x 3′ wide and grows at a slower rate.

Planting and care instructions

Plant Dwarf Myrtle in an area that receives full sun exposure using a well draining soil. Water regularly after planting to help encourage its roots to establish, then reduce frequency to once weekly. This variety can be left to grow in its natural upright form or pruned to desired shape. Use a general shrub fertilizer in the spring to encourage growth for the new growing season.
