About Polystichum munitum (Western Sword Fern)

Polystichum munitum, commonly known as the Western Sword Fern, is a native plant to Northern California. Both reliable and robust, this specimen keeps up its showy appearance year-round. The green pinnately fronds grow 2-3′ long with an overall average landscape size of 3-6′ by 3-6′.  Its shiny sword-like toothed foliage is formed in clusters that spiral spreading outward from its center.

Care and Planting Instructions

Plant Polystichum munitum in an area that receives full sun to part shade. When grown in shade its foliage grows long and wide while when planted in full sun it grows upward with shorter fronds.
