About Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’ (Yuletide Camellia)

As part of the Theaceae family, Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’ is one of the more popular species of the Camellia genus. Grown as a shrub or espalier, this variety can reach an average landscape size of 8-10′ tall and wide. Blooming late in the year, fall welcomes bold red flowers growing as big as 3″ wide and tall with contrasting yellow stamens.  Blessed with a long blooming season, its flowers last into the winter season with its glossy green leaves remain year-round.

Commonly known as Yuletide Camellia, this variety is often referred to as the Christmas Camellia for its notable red flowers.

Planting and Care Instructions

Plant Yuletide Camellia in rich, well-draining soil and water regularly during the first few growing seasons to establish a healthy root system. Be sure when deciding where to plant a young specimen to find an area that receives filtered sun. To avoid scorched leaves and to ensure that the plant can flourish, the filtered sun will be necessary.
