About Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’ (Yuletide Camellia)

As part of the Theaceae family, Camellia sasanqua ‘Yuletide’ is one of the more popular species of the Camellia genus. Grown as a shrub or espalier, this variety can reach an average landscape size of 8-10′ tall and wide. Blooming late in the year, fall welcomes bold red flowers growing as big as 3″ wide and tall with contrasting yellow stamens.  Blessed with a long blooming season, its flowers last into the winter season with its glossy green leaves remain year-round.

Commonly known as Yuletide Camellia, this variety is often referred to as the Christmas Camellia for its notable red flowers.

Planting and Care Instructions

Plant Yuletide Camellia in rich, well-draining soil and water regularly during the first few growing seasons to establish a healthy root system. Be sure when deciding where to plant a young specimen to find an area that receives filtered sun. To avoid scorched leaves and to ensure that the plant can flourish, the filtered sun will be necessary.

Landscape Design Ideas
