About Jasminum polyanthum

This popular evergreen vine is known as Jasminum polyanthum. Commonly known as Pink Jasmine, you can expect clusters of showy white flowers that bloom late Winter through early Summer. Complimented by long, narrow green leaves, the flowers’ size reach about one inch wide with a pink base and gives off an intoxicating fragrance. This variety is a great landscape option as you can train it to fill a large or small space with minimal effort.

Care Instructions

Plant the Jasminum polyanthum in enriched well-drained soil in an area that receives full sun to part shad. Water regularly keeping the soil lightly moist but be careful not to overwater as this vine does not like soggy soils.  The Pink Jasmine does well planted in sun or shade but benefits from some shade if you are located in a hot or dry climate. You can prune in the fall to maintain its shape or control its size. As a vine, Pink Jasmine will need to be supported when planting.

Where to plant

With a trailing growth habit consider planting this vine up a trellis, over a gateway, on a fence, post, column or even over a patio arbor to add some shade. As a fast grower, this plant can reach twenty to twenty-five feet tall with support and with a long blooming season this is an obvious vine choice for a cottage or Asian style landscape.
