About Myoporum parvifolium ‘White’ (Creeping Myoporum)
This fast-growing evergreen bush is called Myoporum parvifolium ‘White’. Growing an average landscape size of 3-6″ high by 9′ wide, this low-growing bush can also be planted as a groundcover. Its branches are filled with small narrow leaves that are accompanied by star-shaped white flowers during the warm summer months. Native to the Australian/New Zealand region, Myoporum ‘White’ tolerates desert and seaside conditions and is known to be not only drought-tolerant but also deer tolerant.
This variety is also available with a pink flower, Myoporum parvifolium ‘Pink’.
Planting and care instructions
Plant Myoporum parvifolium ‘White’ in an area that receives full sun using loamy or sandy soil. If you plan to use this plant in multiples or as a groundcover, make sure to leave at least 6 feet between each bush to avoid overcrowding. Water regularly once planted to establish a healthy root system, then reduce frequency. As a drought-tolerant groundcover, this plant requires infrequent watering. If desired, cut back overgrowth, or to clean up its appearance, you should plan to prune during the winter or spring months before new growth arrives.
Landscape design ideas
This plant variety works well planted on hillsides or as a groundcover between plantings. It is considered low maintenance and an excellent addition to no-fuss landscape designs.
