
About Sempervivum Ruby Heart (Hens and Chicks ‘Ruby Heart’)
This colorful succulent is known as Sempervivum Ruby Heart. Fleshy leaves form in the shape of rosettes with blue-green bases that fade to magenta then tips that turn back to blue-green. Finished with a spike at the end of each leaf, this succulent reaches an average mature landscape size of 3-4″ tall by 6-8″ wide. Its horizontal growing roots produce offsets that grow roots of their own. During the summer a thick flower stalk emerges with a pink-purple starry flowers at the end, then shortly after the plant will die as this variety is monocarpic. Commonly known as Hens and Chicks ‘Ruby Heart’, this succulent is both drought tolerant and incredibly low maintenance. Its horizontal growing roots produce offsets.

Plant Hens and Chicks ‘Ruby Heart’ in an area that receives full sun exposure using an average well-draining or loamy soil. Water after planting to help it establish to its new location then reduce frequency to infrequently.
