About Vinca Minor (Dwarf Periwinkle)

This ground-hugging plant is known as Vinca Minor, or commonly known as Dwarf Periwinkle. It features blue-violet flowers in a pinwheel shape reaching roughly a 1″ diameter in size. The bright beautiful flowers are complimented by densely packed bright-green leaves. As an evergreen plant and with a blooming season of late Spring through Summer, this variety is known for year-round interest. Also considering its desirable characteristics such as deer-resistance and fire-wise, it’s easy to see why this plant would be an easy choice for any landscape design.

Care and planting instructions

Plant the Dwarf Periwinkle in enriched, neutral to acidic well-drained soil located in full sun to part shade. Water deeply and regularly until established then reduce frequency. Vinca Minor can be weedy so it is recommended that the soil be covered with mulch to control outbreaks. Spring pruning may be required to control spread to unwanted areas.
